The Assessment Centre

The assessment centre will vary from company to company, but essentially it is a virtual or in person event where you go into breakout rooms, with your group, and you are assigned a task to complete. Moderators will be in your room listening and noting down what happens during the task.

For example, you could be given a task to read information only you have and try to piece all the information together with your group, as they are given different, but related, data.

The task will always have elements of teamwork, communication, and leadership. This is what they are assessing. They do not really care about the answer as much as the qualities you show during the task. Make sure to take initiative , but do not be arrogant. Listen as much as possible, ask follow up questions, and get people involved - make it a discussion and not a situation where someone just barks orders, no one likes that. Another good tip is to be confident when introducing yourself, first impressions count.
